Inspired by a generous gift and the hands that once chose it.
Our Community Outreach team was recently given fabric pieces from the estate of Barbara Stewart, a former guild president and an award winning quilter. It’s a privilege to carry her love of quilting forward.
Here’s a look at the batik fabric to use for making and donating a quilt in her memory.

While sorting and imagining what these fabrics could become, this design stood out as a beautiful way to bring them together.
It features simple piecing and an engaging layout that will (hopefully) suit both beginner and experienced quilters. This should be a fun quilt to make and one our team will be proud to give.

The leftover bits of batiks may result in a second string quilt with the help of a few extra guild member donated blocks.
There are a few more donated fabrics that will be shared in future posts along with a few ideas on how to use them. Our team will consider all the possibilities and decide together which quilts we’d like to make.

WIPS, PIGS, and UFOS
Today is a bit of a personal post, a change of subject, and a goal that my future self might appreciate a few months from today. After I set up the basic plan for our guild’s Community Outreach program one thing became really clear – I need a plan for my own projects too or,…

One quilt was made with men’s plaid shirts collected over several months from local thrift stores. The second is actually a pair of quilts that were made…
