Today is a bit of a personal post, a change of subject, and a goal that my future self might appreciate a few months from today.
After I set up the basic plan for our guild’s Community Outreach program one thing became really clear – I need a plan for my own projects too or, they’ll never get done!
I took this photo in April after doing a thorough stash count and some reorganizing. (You can read about that here if you’re interested.)

Those white crates under my long arm store my WIPS (works in progress) PIGS (projects in grocery sacks / aka project bags) and UFOs (we all know what those are!).
Since April, I’ve only completed one of them (Nova Star quilt) and haven’t even taken one out to look at or, sat with my list and contemplated what to work on next.
Even though the bins are organized and the projects are numbered & listed for easy retrieval, seeing them sitting in crates annoys me! Apparently not enough to prevent me from chasing the next squirrel. (◔_◔) It’s always more fun to plan something new to work on than it is to go back to something once you’ve moved on.

Here’s my plan:
- Limit time working on Outreach projects to Monday & Tuesday
- Choose 3 projects to work on – Deco, Waggy Tails, Big Modern Braid
- Spend at least 30 minutes a day making progress on one of the 3 projects
That’s it! My goal isn’t to finish them, although that would be nice. 🙂 It’s simply to make some progress. Why three? Because if I bump into a procrastination trigger on the one I’m working on, I can pick up something else and keep my progress momentum going. I know if I don’t have another two already chosen and ready to dive into, undoubtably a squirrel will derail me, again!

Not this time Rocky. 🙂
I’ll try to check in on the first of each month and report any progress (or not). That kind of motivation is usually helpful too. Care to join me???
