Here’s a sneak peek at the plan to carry us through the rest of 2026.
Change of plans are inevitable and asking “why?” is likely to get you an eyeroll but not an answer.
(If you really want to know, refer to this list at the bottom of this post. 🙂 )
We’ll probably laugh about it later …eventually.
Lets all just try to enjoy the journey no matter where it takes us!

So that’s the plan.. and here’s the plan versus reality!
- The plan: Hunt down and gather coordinating fabric donations.
- The reality: Quilters are much more likely to donate an unquilted top that costs them more than a week’s worth of groceries to make, than they will an uncut fat quarter of fabric they’re still saving for “someday”. Next time, you’ll remember to ask for donations first THEN plan what to make.
- The plan: Cut the “just enough” fabric according to the pattern.
- The reality: Someone will inevitably cut what should be a 2.5-inch strip into a 2-inch strip because they sneezed and the ruler slipped.
- The plan: Sew blocks to create a cohesive, beautiful quilt top.
- The reality: Half the team is chatting and distracted, so they make mistakes, and have to take their project home. They make friends with their seam ripper and start all over again….eventually.
- The plan: All the blocks are finished and ready to be quilted the following month.
- The reality: It’s now the end of the following month and as you stare at the stack with exactly half the number of blocks needed to make the top – you start hoping that when they finally appear, the blocks magically turn into a top and quilts itself overnight.
- The plan: Complete and donate one quilt a month, avoiding the creation of any UFOs.
- The reality: You notice a couple of team members are panic-sewing the binding in the parking lot five minutes before the meeting starts. Your smile fades a bit as you realize, it’s December and that’s the June quilt they’re binding.
I had fun writing all that and laughing the whole time because none of it can possibly happen, right? Right? 🙂
